Convening the Africa LEDS Partnership
Pathways to Green Growth in Africa
1-3 April 2014
The Africa LEDS Partnership held its convening workshop on 1 April 2014 in Kinshasa, DRC. This platform served as a hub for peer-to-peer exchange and learning, training, and coordination of programs and assistance in Africa. The workshop brought together low emission development leaders from countries throughout Africa and from international programs to identify and plan priority activities for peer learning, in-depth training, technical collaboration, and coordination for low emission development activities in the region. The Workshop was hosted by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and organized by the LEDS GP and World Bank, with additional funding from the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).
The Africa LEDS Partnership was followed by the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) Regional Practitioners’ Workshop on Green Growth in Africa on 2-3 April 2014. The Workshop on Green Growth in Africa, “Pathways to Green Growth in Africa” aimed at (1) exploring the rationale for green(er) growth in an African context, (2) facilitating policy dialogue and knowledge sharing which will help guide policy-makers in Africa and (3) moving the dialogue on to practical implementation issues. The focus was on setting a vision for green growth in Africa through thematic sessions on matters of relevance to the region. The workshop was hosted by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), organized by the World Bank and designed and executed in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The workshop benefited from additional funding from the LEDS Global Partnership (LEDS GP) and PROFOR (PRogram on Forests).
