REWEC3 in the Harbour of Salerno

Within the Program “Logistica e Porti – Sistema integrato portuale di Salerno”, funded by the POR FESR Campania, the breakwater of the Port of Salerno will be prolonged in order to allow new generation boats to enter the harbor and have access to the port facilities. The project consists in the realization of a 200m breakwater, made by 5 caissons, 3 of which will be realized as a REWEC3 device. The technology of these devices allows the absorption and the conversion of the incident wave energy into electrical energy by means of an optimized air turbine. Thanks to the REWEC3 implementation, the port of Salerno can become one of the most advanced and efficient ports in Europe.
