Exploration Activity: Well Log Data At Dixie Valley Geothermal Area (Williams & Sass, 1997)

Exploration Activity Details
Location Dixie Valley Geothermal Area
Exploration Technique Well Log Data
Activity Date 1996 - 1996
Usefulness useful
DOE-funding Unknown

Exploration Basis
The purpose of this study was to provide information on coupled heat and fluid flow within Dixie Valley.

Notes
Subsurface temperatures were measured in four deep wells along the borders of the Dixie Valley Geothermal Field. Precision temperature logs were made from two flowing wells and provided information on the location and in-flow rates of permeable fractures that the well penetrates. Temperature logs from two shut wells were also made and provided information on conductive heat flow in the geothermal field. Analysis of the magnitude and extent of fluid flow through the Stillwater Fault Zone ware made. The temperature profiles made from the four wells provided valuable information on coupled heat and fluid flow within Dixie Valley.
