South Africa Sectoral Study on Climate and Refrigeration Technology in Developing Countries and the Development of Methods and Instruments for Identifying Reduction Potential and Implementing NAMAs

From Open Energy Information

Program Overview

The goals of this project are twofold. First, we will build on the extensive activities of ECN and Ecofys on supported mitigation activities such as Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), low carbon development (LCD) strategies and technology innovation centers to bring a portfolio of projects from the proposal stage to the next stage ready for financing concrete activities. This can include: developing proposals for supported actions and/or identifying financing for existing proposal and/or starting the implementation. The second objective is to complete an analytical overview of the lessons that can be drawn from these instruments and how they relate to each other. This overview will cover all the major actors in the field to pinpoint the most effective practices for identifying and supporting mitigation actions in developing countries. By being the largest and most comprehensive study in the field, this work will greatly support the climate policy community.
