Seismic Imaging, Majer, Gritto and Daley. The project objective includes the development and application of active seismic methods for improved understanding of the subsurface structure, faults, fractures lithology, and fluid paths in geothermal reservoirs. While the objective of the work previous to FY2003 was concerned with the detection and location of faults and fractures based on an existing 3-D seismic data set collected at the Rye Patch geothermal reservoir, the current work was aimed at investigating how the presence of discrete models of fault and fracture zones can be detected and distinguished in seismic surface and borehole data. In early 2004 a second data area was included in the project. Shown in Figure 2 is the Hot Sulphur Springs in Northern Nevada. This is the subject of current investigation for installing a power plant. One of the critical issues is to accurately locate the faults at depth. In 2004, several 2-D seismic lines were run by the operating company. The location of these lines are shown in Figure 2.
