Worldwide Trends in Energy Use and Efficiency: Key Insights from International Energy Agency (IEA) Indicator Analysis in Support of the Group of Eight (G8) Plan of Action

Jump to: navigation, search
This International Energy Agency (IEA) series of reports focuses on how to achieve a sustainable energy future. Analysis of data presents a mixed message: energy efficiencies are improving but not nearly fast enough to overcome the increases in energy consumption. There is substantial potential for improvement in existing technologies to reverse the trend. IEA finds energy savings opportunities in fossil-fuel electricity production based in increased efficiency alone, apart from the impacts of fuel switching, particularly in developing and transitional countries.
