Wildlife Management Areas exist in the State of Maryland as wildlife sanctuaries, and vehicles, tree removal, and construction are severely restricted in these areas. Some of these species are also classified as Natural Heritage Areas, which exist for the preservation of threatened or endangered animals or plants.
