Notes
Groundwater and coastal spring studies have identified thermal fluids of the lower East Rift Zone which date back over 100 years. These studies also identified several warm water wells and coastal springs in lower Puna. The water sampling studies also suggested that significant quantities of thermal fluids are discharged from natural vents along the rift zone. The fluids are carried along the surface of the basal lens and then discharged to the ocean at coastal thermal springs.
