Report: Volatiles in Hydrothermal Fluids- a Mass Spectrometric Study of Fluid Inclusions from Active Geothermal Systems

Abstract
A system for analysis of inclusion gas contents based upon quadrupole mass spectrometry has been designed, assembled and tested during the first 7 months of funding. The system is currently being tested and calibrated using inclusions with known gas contents from active geothermal systems. Analyses are in progress on inclusions from the Salton Sea, Valles Caldera, Geysers, and Coso geothermal systems.
