Summary

Taylor County RECC offers rebates to residential customers for upgrading to energy efficient insulation and heat pumps. Under the Button-Up insulation upgrade program, a utility representative will conduct an energy audit of the home and point out areas where insulation can be added or where other weatherization techniques can be used. Upon completion of the audit, if the home is electrically heated and over 2 years of age, Taylor County RECC will pay $20 for every 1,000 Btu saved by adding insulation, up to $400 per home. Taylor County RECC also offers a rebate of $200 to residential members replacing an existing electric furnace, baseboard or ceiling heat with an energy efficient air-source heat pump. The equipment must meet ARI standards and other requirements listed on the program web site. Interested customers should contact the utility before making any upgrades or installations. Reduced electric rates are also available to members who utilize Electric Thermal Storage in participating homes. Consult with Taylor County RECC representatives for details on this program.
