Appalachian Power, Wheeling Power Company, and AEP offer residential electric customers in West Virginia rebates on energy efficient weatherization and HVAC equipment. Measures can be installed by a license contractor participating in the network of self installed and inspected afterwards. Once work is a completed by the contractor and the paperwork has been submitted, a rebate check will be sent in under 45 days. The Low Income Home Energy Audit/Retrofit Program provides a free in-home energy audit. A GoodCents technician energy specialist will be sent to examine the home, generate a custom audit report and install simple low-cost energy efficiency improvements with your permission.
Some measures that may be included in addition to the Home Energy Improvements report are compact fluorescent light bulbs, up to six faucet aerators for kitchen and bathroom, up to three low-flow showerheads, LED nightlights, two water heater temperature adjustments, water heater pipe insulation, refrigerator thermometer, refrigerator coil cleaning brush, and basic air sealing.il cleaning brush, and basic air sealing.
