Summary

South Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (RECC) provides service to more than 60,000 customers in southeastern Kentucky. To promote energy efficiency to residential customers, South Kentucky RECC offers a variety of rebates and cash incentives.

The Button-Up Program provides up to $400 for any improvement a customer makes to the insulation and other weatherization measures in participating residences. The incentive payment will be $20 for every 1,000 BTUs the home's heating load is lowered. South Kentucky RECC will conduct a heat loss calculation before and after you make improvements as recommended by the company's energy advisors. To qualify for this rebate, customers' homes must be at least five years old and use electricity as the primary heat source.

The Touchstone Energy Home Program provides incentives for making the heating and cooling of a new home more efficient. Installing an air-source heat pump makes a customer eligible for a $300 rebate, and installing a geothermal system makes customers eligible for a $500 rebate. In order to receive this rebate, the home must satisfy other Touchstone requirements. The Touchstone Energy program also extends to manufactured homes. Customers who purchase an Energy Star certified manufactured home are eligible for a $250 rebate.

South Kentucky RECC also offers prescriptive rebates on high efficiency products. Purchasing a geothermal system that meets the ARI-330 standard and having it installed by participating contractors can make a customer eligible for a $200 rebate. Customers who purchase an electric thermal storage unit can receive a $40 rebate per kilowatt.

In addition to these programs, South Kentucky RECC will provide rebates for air infiltration and duct-sealing tests. Free caulking is also available to any SKRECC member who is working on improving the air infiltration characteristics of a home.
