Solar Systems, located in Abbotsford, Australia, is a company that specializes in electricity production from concentrated photovoltaic power plants. Solar Systems developed a system that uses steel and glass, cheaper than PV. The CS500 was developed by Solar Systems, and has "112 curved reflecting mirrors mounted on a steel frame, which tracks the sun throughout the day." This allows for the delivery of concentrated sunlight to the PV modules.
Solar Systems, in conjunction with TRUenergy, is engaged in the construction of a solar power plant in Mildura, Australia. The plant, a solar field capable of producing enough power for 45,000 homes (154 Megawatts), will begin operating in 2010, and will be at full capacity by 2013.
