GIS Data
The underlying renewable energy information SWERA database is available to a user as GIS data. These data are distributed as shape file and image formats. Most open source and commercial GIS, internet mapping and image processing software can read these formats.
The available data includes two sources of information:
- The underlying data from which the maps are comprised, which may also include information on seasonal and diurnal resource characteristics. These data can be incorporated directly into standard GIS software, and into many analytical tools that require resource data to simulate technology performance; and
- Relevant geospatial data for each country, which can include terrain and land use information, road and railway networks, locations of population centers, energy facilities, ports, and location of transmission lines.
