Rhode Island's stormwater design and installation standards manual has been developed to describe mandatory and suggested stormwater design and performance criteria for applicants to the Department of Environmental Management (DEM), Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) and Rhode Island's cities and towns. This manual is meant to assist property owners, developers, engineers, consultants, contractors, municipal staff and others in planning, designing and implementing effective stormwater best management practices for the development and redevelopment of properties in Rhode Island. The manual addresses specific criteria for the site planning process, groundwater recharge, water quality, channel protection, and peak flow control requirements, as well as low impact development (LID) site planning and design strategies.
