1-TX-a.1 – Land Use Planning Delegated to Municipalities

Under Chapter 213 of the Texas Local Government Code (TLCG), land use planning in Texas is delegated to municipalities. Under the Code, municipalities may adopt a comprehensive plan for the long-range development of the municipality (TLCG sec. 213.002). Public input is required by state law but otherwise municipal governments establish the required procedures for adopting comprehensive plans (TLCG sec. 213.003(a)(1)).
