Federal Hydropower Aesthetic & Recreational Resource Assessment(17-FD)

A hydropower developer may need authorization from a river administering agency to proceed with a proposed hydropower project that may indirectly affect a river protected under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. The river administering agency may require that the developer take measures to eliminate the project’s adverse effects on the protected river. The river administering agency will not authorize a hydropower project if the project is located on, or will directly affect, a designated Wild and Scenic River.
