Utah Geothermal Air Quality Assessment(15-UT)

In Utah, developers may be required to obtain an Air Quality Permit from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) if their project operations will emit contaminants into the air. Most new and/or modified sources of air pollution require an Approval Order from the DEQ before starting construction or operation of any contaminant emitting equipment. Developers may qualify for an exemption to permitting requirements under UAC R307-401-9 or UAC R307-401-10. Developers required to obtain an Approval Order must submit a Notice of Intent to DEQ for review. Following review, DEQ will issue a proposed decision, publish notice, and allow for comment. Developers may be required to participate in a public hearing if one is requested.
