Idaho Geothermal Drilling & Well Development(5-ID)

Developers must obtain a Permit to Drill from the Idaho Department of Water Resources (DWR) if their project involves drilling a new well or modifying an existing well. Developers must submit the appropriate application to DWR for review, a Drilling and Operations Plan, and the necessary fee. Developers are required to file a bond with DWR, and file drilling records upon completion.

Drilling & Well Field Permit: Any person, owner or operator who proposes to construct a well for the production of geothermal resources or to construct an injection well must obtain a Permit to Drill for Geothermal Resources from the Idaho Department of Water Resources.
