Journal Article: Present State Of Drilling And Repairing Of Geothermal Production Wells In Japan

Abstract
Since Japan is a prominently volcanic country, it is blessed with many hot springs and abundant geothermal resources. As a result of exploration during the past ten years, many geothermal wells were drilled, and geothermal electric power stations have been constructed in two areas of Matsukawa in the Iwate Prefecture and at Otake in Kyushu. Drilling accomplishments in the areas of Shikate in Hokkaido, Matsukawa and Takinoue in Iwate Prefecture, Hachimantai in Akita Prefecture, Onikobe in Miyagi Prefecture, and Takinoyu and Otake in Kyushu will be described in this report.
