Note: The program will not be available in 2012. The summary and this record are for information only.

Oncor Electric Delivery offers rebates to its residential and non-residential customers for the installation of qualifying solar water heating systems that supplement an existing electric water heater. New construction is eligible, but only if the home is not equipped with gas service or if the non-residential building is not constructed with a central gas space heating system. Pool heating devices are not eligible for a rebate under this program. The commercial property meter must have an annual peak load of 250 kilowatts (kW) or less in order to qualify for an incentive through this program.

The rebate amount will vary depending on the system’s predicted energy performance. Typical residential incentive levels are between $1,400 and $2,700, while commercial incentives tend to fall between $800 to $1,500 for smaller systems and $2,400 to $6,500 for larger systems. Incentives are calculated based on the expected performance. The residential incentive amounts listed above are for SRCC OG-300 certified (required) systems and may be adjusted based on sub-optimal orientation of the array. The non-residential incentives amounts listed above are for both SRCC OG-300 certified systems and other systems that use SRCC OG-100 certified collectors. See the program website for details.

In order to be eligible for a rebate, systems must be meet product certification requirements (see above), and all installations must be performed by a participating service provider. Rebates will be paid directly to the service provider and reflected as a deduction from the installation cost on the customer’s invoice. Qualifying low-income customers may be eligible for an incentive of 95% of the installed system costs, with a maximum incentive level of $3,800. Note: as of May 1, 2011 low-income rebates are fully reserved.
