Summary

This legislation prohibits the waste of oil or gas and the pollution of water, air, or land. The Department of Health and Environmental Control is authorized to implement regulations designed to prevent the waste of oil and gas, promote environmental stewardship, and regulate the exploration, extraction, and production of oil and gas resources. Permits are required for exploration and production, and all provisions for exploration and production of oil and gas also apply to geothermal resources to the extent possible.
