Summary

The Solar Water Heater Rebate Program is offered to residential retail electric customers by the City of Ocala Utility Services. Interested customers must complete an application and receive approval from the Ocala Utility Services before installing equipment. The application can be found on the program web site. The system must be installed by a licensed Florida contractor on the customer's premises, which must be located within the Utility service territory. The system must be new and take the place of an electric hot water heater. Solar pool heating systems and other solar thermal technologies are ineligible. Solar pool heating systems of all types, including spas, whether residential, commercial or institutional, are ineligible for a rebate. Additional solar thermal technologies such as solar heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment are also excluded.

By participating in this program, the customer agrees that Ocala Utility will have the sole right to obtain and retain ownership of, and to qualify for and receive the full benefit of, any and all existing and future credits, certificates, benefits, environmental attributes, emissions reductions, offsets and/or allowances, however entitled, attributable to the installation and/or operation of the eligible equipment. In order to verify/calculate RECs, the system must be equipped with a Btu meter to convert the Btus to kWh.
