New York Division of Fish, Wildlife, and Marine Resources

The New York Division of Fish, Wildlife, and Marine Resources (DFWMR) is a division of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The DFWMR oversees hunting, fishing and trapping licenses, and monitors the quality of those resources. The DFWMR also manages state wildlife management areas. Oversees freshwater and tidal wetlands programs. Five Bureaus make up the DFWMR:

  • Bureau of Fisheries
  • Bureau of Habitat
  • Bureau of Marine Resources
  • Bureau of Wildlife
  • Bureau of Fish & Wildlife Services
