Financial Incentive Program
|Name||Namaste Solar Electric - PV Grant Program for Nonprofits|
|Incentive Type||Non-Profit Grant Program|
|Implementing Sector||Private Organization|
|Energy Category|| Renewable Energy Incentive Programs
Namaste Solar Electric, a Boulder-based, employee-owned solar electric company provides grants to help local non-profits install photovoltaic (PV) systems on their buildings. The grants are funded with 1% of the company's annual revenue.
Two types of grants are available through the program: matching grants and full grants. Matching grants allow nonprofits to install PV systems with minimal investments. Namaste Solar's contribution is determined by calculating the retail price of the solar system and deducting the utility rebate amount (generally 50%-60%). Namaste Solar will contribute 50% of the remaining amount. The nonprofit's contribution can be secured through other grants, fundraisers or angel donors, or with general operating funds. With full grants, Namaste Solar donates 100% of the post-rebate cost of the solar system.
Eligible organizations must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits, share Namaste Solar's values and vision, serve the Denver/Boulder area, and benefit from a solar installation. Although Namaste Solar does not prioritize any particular issue for solar installation donations, it prefers to support organizations working for positive environmental and social change.
Applications for the next grant cycle are due February 26, 2010.
