In order to match the observed inverted T-D profile and to predict convective parameters an approximate Laplace transform solution that is exact at long times was found for a simple horizontal fluid flow model. The results obtained from applying the model discussed in this paper can be used directly in the exploration of geothermal systems. The main usefulness of the model described in this paper is the insight into temporal and special variations in fluid flow in geothermal systems that may be obtained from, first qualitatively and, second, quantitatively applying the model to exploration data. The examples discussed above show that this type of phenomenon is common to geothermal systems. The examples also show some types of information that can be obtained from modeling these types of T-D curves.
