Exploration Activity: Magnetotellurics At Dixie Valley Geothermal Area (Wannamaker, Et Al., 2007)

Exploration Activity Details
Location Dixie Valley Geothermal Area
Exploration Technique Magnetotellurics
Activity Date 2006 - 2007

Usefulness useful
DOE-funding Unknown

Exploration Basis
The goal of this project was to better define the fault system running through the thermally active part of Dixie Valley and infer the sources for the heat and fluid.

Notes
Regional MT transect data was integrated with MT array measurements in contiguous bipole deployments across the thermally active area of Dixie Valley. Three dense lines were placed across the Senator Fumaroles area, the Cottonwood Creek, and the main geothermal production area. This study was conducted with the goal of resolving some ambiguity in the structural model of the area. Inversion cross sections were successful in resolving some uncertainties.
