Project Details On November 8, 2006, Finavera Renewables Ocean Energy, Ltd. filed, pursuant to Part I of the Federal Power Act (FPA), an application with FERC for an original minor license to construct, operate, and maintain the 1 MW Makah Bay Offshore Wave Pilot Project. The project will consist of (1) four 250 kW AquaBuOYs and an associated mooring/anchoring and electrical connection system; (2) a 3.7-statute-mile-long, direct current (DC) submarine transmission cable connecting from one of the AquaBuOY’s (“collection buoy”) power cable to the shore station; (3) a metal shore station 15x15x10ft.; (4) an access road and parking area at the shore station; (5) an approximately 20ft. long, 12-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to connect the shore station to the nearby existing Clallam County Public Utility District (PUD) distribution line; and (6) appurtenant facilities. A five year conditional license was granted by FERC on December 21, 2007 to construct, operate, and maintain the Makah Bay Offshore Wave Energy Pilot Project, for a period of 5 years, effective the first day of the month after this license is issued. The license is subject to the terms and conditions of the Federal Power Act (FPA), which are incorporated by reference as part of this license, and subject to the regulations the Commission issues under the provisions of the FPA.
