LEDSGP
From Open Energy Information
The Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership was founded to advance low emissions development through coordination, information exchange, and cooperation among programs and countries working to advance low emissions growth. Launched in early 2011, the partnership currently brings together 103 governmental and international institutions. The LEDS Global Partnership is open to any interested parties that performs relevant work.
Program Objectives
The LEDS Global Partnership’s objectives are to:
- Strengthen support for low emission development in all regions and by all stakeholders
- Foster peer learning and capacity building on LEDS across developing and developed countries and international institutions
- Improve and support coordination of LEDS activities at the country, regional and global level
Work Program and Working Groups
The LEDS Global Partnership has established a collaborative work plan and is currently implementing several tasks. The work plan is currently under development and more information will be posted soon. Each task is guided by a Working Group:
Regional Platforms:
- Latin America and Caribbean Regional Platform
- African Climate and Development Society
- Asia LEDS Partnership
Work Streams:
- LEDS Planning
- Analysis and Tools
- Finance
- Sector-specific Resource Pool
- Transportation
- Agriculture
- Energy
- Waste Management
- Cities and Sub-regions
LEDS Activity Inventory
The LEDS Activity Inventory was developed to provide information on relevant activities and tools that can inform and support future work. The goals of this inventory activity are to avoid duplication of effort, to promote efficient use of resources, to assess assistance gaps and to support harmonization and coordination of low emission development planning activities internationally.
Merge with CLEAN
As of April of 2012, the LEDS Global Partnership has been merged with the Coordinated Low Emissions Assistance Network (CLEAN) in order to improve efficiency and enhance coordination of LEDS activities. CLEAN falls under the umbrella of the LEDS Global Partnership as a network of practitioners from around the world that collaborate on and share experiences with LEDS data, tools, methods, and assessments.
This new structure allows for streamlined management of the two groups, reduces burden on organizations engaged in both networks by establishing one set of working groups under the LEDS GP, and helps to achieve consistency and avoid duplication or confusion about the roles of the two networks.
