Knowledge Portals

The following knowledge portals provided by our partner institutions also support climate-resilient low emission development.

Clean Energy Solutions Center

The Clean Energy Solutions Center serves as a first-stop clearinghouse of clean energy policy reports, data and tools, and provides interactive expert assistance and training forums. The Solutions Center is an initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial, a global forum to share best practices and promote policies and programs that encourage and facilitate the transition to a global clean energy economy.

Climate Smart Planning Platform

Climate Smart Planning Platform "provides countries and individual users with the opportunity to gather and share information on the application of climate-resilient and low-carbon development tools by giving access to a wide range of climate-related global and national datasets."

Climate Technology Center and Network (CTC&N)

Climate Technology Center and Network (CTC&N) "promotes accelerated, diversified and scaled-up transfer of environmentally sound technologies for climate change mitigation and adaptation, in developing countries, in line with their sustainable development priorities. As defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate technologies cover any piece of equipment, technique, practical knowledge or skills for performing a particular activity that can be used to face climate change".

ClimateTechWiki offers a platform for a wide range of stakeholders in developed and developing countries who are involved in technology transfer and the wider context of low emission and low vulnerability development. ClimateTechWiki offers detailed information on a broad set of mitigation and adaptation technologies. Registration is free and registered users can add technology case studies and participate in forum discussions.

Energy Sector Management Assistance Program

The Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) is a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank. Since 2007 ESMAP has provided support for World Bank engagement in over 10 countries on low carbon development, generating a wealth of knowledge, experience and tools which can help inform low carbon development planning in other countries, or regions within countries. These are freely provided by ESMAP for the benefit of future or ongoing low carbon studies. ESMAP is also developing Open Energy Tools, a wiki-based platform to support the energy tools community by hosting and facilitating further development of tools and related datasets.

Enhancing Capacity For Low Emission Development Strategies (EC-LEDS)

Launched in 2010, the Enhancing Capacity for Low Emission Development Strategies (EC-LEDS) is a flagship program of the U.S. Global Climate Change Initiative. Through the EC-LEDS program, the U.S. government supports partner countries in the design and implementation of low emission development strategies (LEDS) that promote sustainable social and economic development while slowing the growth of greenhouse gas emissions. The EC-LEDS program builds on existing country programs, plans, and policies, with a focus on supporting the unique national development goals of each partner. It also complements efforts of other international donors and organizations to support LEDS.

Green Growth Knowledge Platform

Green Growth Knowledge Platform "is a global network of international organizations and experts that identifies and addresses major knowledge gaps in green growth theory and practice. By encouraging widespread collaboration and world-class research, the GGKP offers practitioners and policymakers the policy guidance, good practices, tools, and data necessary to support the transition to a green economy."

REN21—Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century

REN21 is a global renewable energy policy multi-stakeholder network that connects key actors from governments, international organisations, industry associations, science and academia as well civil society. The REN21 Renewables Interactive Map is a research tool for tracking the development of renewable energy worldwide. It can be used to gather and share information on economic development and policy frameworks in the field of renewable energy.

Reegle Search Engine for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

The reegle search engine for renewable energy and energy efficiency serves as a clean energy information portal, targeting specific stakeholders including governments, project developers, businesses, financiers, NGOs, academia, international organizations and civil society. It provides comprehensive country energy profiles, energy statistics and a directory of relevant stakeholders.

UNDP Guidance Manuals and Toolkits

The UNDP LECRDS manuals, guidebooks and toolkits are intended to enable project managers, UNDP country offices, and developing country government decision makers to acquaint themselves with the methodologies most appropriate to their development contexts in support of the preparation of LECRDS or low emission and climate-resilient development strategies.
