The Job Development Investment Grant awards cash grants to new and expanding businesses that will provide economic benefit to that state. Grants are based on job creation and investment commitment and measured against a percentage of withholding taxes paid by new employees. The program requires that the proposed project meet the following five criteria: result in net increase in employment; increase opportunities for employment; consistency with the economic development goals of the state; competitive with another state; and grant must be necessary for project completion.
