InSAR At Dixie Valley Geothermal Area (Laney, 2005)
Exploration Activity: InSAR At Dixie Valley Geothermal Area (Laney, 2005)
|Exploration Activity Details|
|Location||Dixie Valley Geothermal Area|
The purpose of this study was to examine and possibly identify a potential geothermal location using remotely sensed surface deformation data. The project was also done to help better understand the relationship between fluid flow, pressure changes, and regional strain
Repeat-orbit synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) was used to measure surface strains. This was a regional exploration project; however data was gathered from the Dixie Valley fault Zone specifically because it is a known fault controlled geothermal resource.
