This act states the standards and regulations for the management of hazardous waste. No person shall construct, modify or operate a hazardous waste facility or otherwise dispose of hazardous waste within this state without a permit from the secretary. Permits for hazardous waste facilities shall be issued for fixed terms not to exceed 10 years. Plans, designs and relevant data for the construction of hazardous waste facilities shall be prepared by a professional engineer licensed to practice in Kansas and shall be submitted to the department for approval prior to the construction. The article also states violations and penalties related to hazardous waste management as well as registration and insurance requirements for transportation of hazardous waste.
