Summary

The Groundwater Discharge Permitting and Registration Program seeks to protect groundwater quality by establishing standards, criteria, and procedures for wastewater discharges. The program regulates commercial discharges to groundwater to minimize improper disposal of waste and wastewater containing any industrial and commercial wastes. All discharges to ground or groundwater that are not permitted by the Subsurface Systems Bureau; over 20,000 gallons per day from a single source; discharges using other than subsurface leaching; aquifer recharge; or discharging treated contaminated wastewater.
