Geophysical surveys can reveal shallow granitic plutons, which may have intruded at depth inside the sedimentary formations of the basement and often present a negative density contrast when compared to the latter. Gravity could help to identify these bodies by filtering the gravimetric effects of any horsts, grabens or overthrusts.
