China-Sino-German Partnership

Jump to: navigation, search

In January 2009 the governments of China and Germany signed an agreement to cooperate on the issue of climate change mitigation. A bilateral working group was established whose aim is to ensure that this agreement will lead to the development of innovative measures. A liaison office in Beijing is providing support for the project. The project promotes dialogue on policy options and measures for both tackling climate change and adapting to climate change in China and Germany. It also encourages discussion on potential international climate change mitigation agreements as well as the exchange of ideas on the framework and management mechanisms required to establish a low-carbon economy. In addition, it supports the development of bilateral climate change mitigation projects focusing on the accelerated implementation of effective measures.
