North Carolina features almost 18 million acres of forested land within the state. The North Carolina Forest Service (http://ncforestservice.gov/) manages the State's forest lands, including those owned by private landowners.
The North Carolina State University Forestry Department has issued several publications regarding biomass fuels in the state, including impacts of the State's RPS on Forest landowners, woody biomass harvesting guidelines, economics of woody biomass harvest, and wildfire mitigation among other topics: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/forestry/programs/woody_biomass/pubs_and_research.php
The North Carolina Biomass Trader is a marketplace for biomass fuels, feedstock, and energy products. The organization is created by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources: http://www.ncbiomasstrader.org/
