Information Source Forest Action Plan:

Kansas is home to an established forestry industry managing roughly 2 million acres of land. The vast majority of these lands are privately owned. The Kansas Forest Service (KFS) provides the state's inventory and annual summary of its forests.

KFS issued in 2010 its Kansas Forest Action Plan, which includes discussion of the increasing volume and density of forests creating opportunity for new utilization of forest products including the use of woody biomass.

The Kansas Forest Service has also presented its Wood Energy Initiative, with the objective of promoting and growing the wood and biomass energy market in the state. The program offers assistance to any entity considering the use of such fuels and technologies.
