The wind climate of Ireland has been calculated using the Karlsruhe Atmospheric Mesoscale Model KAMM. The climatology is represented by 65 frequency classes of geostropic wind that were selected as equiangular direction sectors and speed intervals with equal frequency in a sector. The results are compared with data from the European Wind Atlas which have been analyzed using the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program, WAsP. The prediction of the areas of higher wind power is fair. Stations with low power are overpredicted.
