Exploration Activity: Exploratory Boreholes At Blue Mountain Geothermal Area (Parr & Percival, 1991)

Exploration Activity Details
Location Blue Mountain Geothermal Area
Exploration Technique Exploratory Boreholes
Activity Date 1984 - 1990

Usefulness useful
DOE-funding Unknown

Exploration Basis
This exploration was originally done as part of a mineral exploration effort. The information gained from the study was also useful in the discovery of a geothermal resource in the area.

Notes
Shallow exploration drilling was used during mineral exploration at Blue Mountain. A total of 5947 m has been drilled from 3 core and 62 rotary drill holes. This exploration effort found sub-economic gold mineralization, but discovered a previously unknown geothermal resource.
