Engineering for Change (E4C) LLC was founded in the spirit of engineers' harnessing a common passion for designing and applying creative technical solutions to a broad range of significant humanitarian challenges. E4C is a dynamic and growing community of engineers, technologists, social scientists, NGOs, local governments and community advocates whose mission is to improve quality of life in communities around the world by facilitating the development of affordable, locally appropriate and sustainable solutions to the most pressing humanitarian challenges.

E4C's approach is to provide a common forum for facilitating connection, collaboration, knowledge exchange and content aggregation with complete openness, transparency and accessibility. E4C will extend its impact by facilitating partnerships with organizations that are 'on the ground' defining needs and implementing appropriate solutions.

Originally conceived by ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), E4C is a global alliance which now includes IEEE and Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA). The E4C alliance represents over 500,000 member engineers and technologists from industry and academia throughout the world.

For E4C, this is the starting point. E4C looks forward to welcoming participation from the broader technical community, corporate sponsors, academic institutions, NGOs and other organizations in the development space. Over time, E4C plans to bring increasing value to nurture the growth and effectiveness of its worldwide community. We will seek to develop an improved user experience based on more content, resources and tools; enhanced access to information with search and cross-referencing capability and mobile phone access. As an early adopter, we'd like to hear from you about what's working, what's not and what you'd like to see as we evolve.
