Journal Article: Direct Application Of Geothermal Energy For Process Heat In Guatemala

Abstract
Geothermal resources in Guatemala, which are being developed for the production of electric energy, are also suitable for direct heat uses. A demonstration facility capable of drying agricultural products is under design and construction will soon begin. A feasibility study is also being made of a larger plant that will utilize geothermal heat in the refrigeration of up to 2 t hr-1 of food, and for cold storage, blanching, drying and cooking of agricultural products. Other industrial processes are also being considered.
