Exploration Activity: Direct-Current Resistivity Survey At Kilauea East Rift Geothermal Area (Thomas, 1986)

Exploration Activity Details
Location Kilauea East Rift Geothermal Area
Exploration Technique Direct-Current Resistivity Survey
Activity Date 1978 - 1986

Usefulness useful
DOE-funding Unknown

Exploration Basis
This study was conducted as part of the Geothermal Resources Assessment Program initiated in 1978

Notes
Electrical resistivity studies performed on the Kilauea East Rift Zone using bipole mapping techniques. This survey was done as part of the Hawaii Geothermal Project (HGP) geoscience program. The study provided data on the regional resistivity structure of the summit and eastern flank of Kilauea. A model was developed and indicated several types of resistivity structures.
