Summary

The Wetlands and Waterways Program requires permits for commercial activity or development proposed on or near a wetland or waterway. For the purpose of the permitting process, major projects are defined as projects that will permanently impact 5,000 square feet or more of wetlands or waterways, including the 100-year floodplain and are located in an area identified as potentially impacting a nontidal wetland of special State concern. Major and minor projects permits are subject to varying application fees and approval processes. Section 5-901 et seq. off the Environment Article contains more specific information on application and permit procedures.
