|Project Description||Within the Sweet Lake Oil and Gas Field, the existence of a geopressured-geothermal system was confirmed in the 1980s as part of the DOE’s Gulf Coast Geopressured-Geothermal Program. At the close of that program it was determined that the energy prices at the time could not support commercial production of the resource. Increased electricity prices and technological advancements over the last two decades, combined with the current national support for developing clean, renewable energy and job creation it would entail, provide the opportunity to develop thousands of megawatts of geopressured-geothermal power in the South Eastern United States.|
|Objectives||Exploit the extraordinarily high pressured hot brines known to exist at depth in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.|
