Journal Article: Application Of Geothermal Energy To The Supply Of Electricity In Rural Areas

Abstract
This paper deals with the advantages which the utilization of endogenous fluids may provide for the electric supply of rural areas. After a brief review of general and particular aspects of the geothermal energy, some technical and economic considerations follow based upon the discussion of two case histories. Cost figures are given of geothermoelectric power produced by means of small generators (4000 and 500 kW capacity, respectively) and a comparison is then made between a 500 kW geothermoelectric turboalternator and a like capacity Diesel generator.
