Description

The Crude Oil Analysis (COA) database contains the digital data compilation of 9,076 crude oil analyses from samples collected from 1920 through 1983 from the United States and around the world. The data is described in Chapter 9 of the USGS paper, Petroleum Systems of the San Joaquin Basin Province, California. The dataset includes information about oil samples, crude oil analyses, and source rock data.

Description

Estimated Alaska coal resources are largely in Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks distributed in three major provinces. Northern Alaska-Slope, Central Alaska-Nenana, and Southern Alaska-Cook Inlet. Cretaceous resources, predominantly bituminous coal and lignite, are in the Northern Alaska-Slope coal province.

The USGS investigated coalbed methane (CBM) resources in the Powder River Basin (WY) and adjacent basins in Wyoming and North Dakota. Specifically, the analysis looked at: total gas desorbed, coal quality, and high-pressure methane adsorption isotherm data from 963 cored coal samples from 37 core holes.

The Energy Geochemistry Data Base (EGDB) contains chemical analysis data for crude oil, natural gas, coal, water, and rock samples analyzed by the USGS Energy Resources Team's Geochemistry Laboratory, or by contracted-service laboratories. Data was also obtained from the literature and unpublished public domain sources. The sample types included are primarily rock, coal, oil, and gas.
