These estimates are derived from the best available solar resource datasets available to NREL by country. These vary in spatial resolution from 1 km to 1 degree (approximately 100 km) depending on the data source. High spatial resolution datasets (1 km to 40 km cells) were modeled to support country or regional projects. Where high resolution datasets were not available, data from NASA’s Surface Meteorology and Solar Energy (SSE) version 6 database were used. The data represents total potential solar energy per year as a function of land area per solar class (KWh/m²/day).

CIA: World Factbook assessment of proved reserves of crude oil in barrels

analysis of geological and engineering data, can be estimated with a
high degree of confidence to be commercially recoverable from a given
date forward, from known reservoirs and under current economic

The Energy Statistics Database contains comprehensive energy statistics
on the production, trade, conversion and final consumption of primary
and secondary; conventional and non-conventional; and new and renewable
sources of energy. The Energy Statistics dataset, covering the period
from 1990 on, is available at UNdata. This dataset relates to the conversion in other energy-producing plants, and is available for both Germany and Sweden (2001 - 2007).
