As we wrap up our FY12 activities and move forward into FY13, I wanted to thank everyone who has participated in this year's Regulatory Roadmapping efforts - for all your time reviewing flowcharts, providing feedback, attending meetings and submitting comments and suggestions.    This project couldn't have been possible without you.

I've created a set of scripts for automating downloading a list of OpenEI wiki pages, and for uploading them.

    • mwscrape.py - Download OpenEI wiki pages to local files.
      • Usage: mwscrape.py [-h] [--site SITE] [--infile INFILE] [--outdir OUTDIR] [--revid] [--quiet]
        • --site SITE - Default is dev.openei.org, or use en.openei.org
        • --infile INFILE - Contains a list of pages to download, one page per line, and lines beginning with #  are comments.  Default infile is named "get_pages".  Line format for URL http://en.openei.org/wiki/Multispectral_Imaging, for example, would just be "Multispectral_Imaging".
        • --outdir OUTDIR - Directory to save pages, one file per page, default directory is "dev.openei.org".
        • --revid - Includes the page revision id in the file (use this if you intend to use the push.pl script to upload changes later).
        • --quiet - Don't print progress status.
      • Requires:
    • push.pl - Upload local files into OpenEI wiki pages.
      • Usage: push.pl <sitename>
        • <sitename> - Default is dev.openei.org, or use en.openei.org
        • Create <sitename>.ini with
          • username:<username>
          • passwd:<password>
        • File structure for pages to upload
          • <sitename>/creates/<pages> - New pages to be created
          • <sitename>/deletes/<pages> - Pages to delete (the local file can be empty)
          • <sitename>/edits/<pages> - Existing pages to be modified.  First line should contain revision id of the original page that was edited (see mwscrape.py --revid).  If the current revision number doesn't match, push.pl will exit with a warning.  When this happens, just merge your edits with the latest, update the revision id and start push.pl again.  Revision id line format is:
            • revid:<revision_id>
          • <sitename>/files/<file_page>/ - Directory with info for creating file pages, i.e. http://dev.openei.org/wiki/File:Panorama.jpg.  Directory should contain the following files:
            • One file to upload (required), i.e. julie_panorama.jpeg.  Filename need not match the directory name, and the file page name will match the directory.
            • File named "body", optional, contains page content.
            • File named "meta.csv", optional, single row csv with two columns.  First is an upload comment, second is the revision id if this upload is an edit.  If the latest revision doesn't match this revision id, push.pl will warn and exit.
          • Note the special character codes that should be used in filenames (mwscrape.py will handle this properly for downloaded pages):
            • % - %25
            • / - %2F
            • : - %3A
      • Requires:

When push.pl runs, it creates subdirectiories named "done" and moves files here after they have been uploaded (i.e. <sitename>/edits/done/<page>), so if the upload process fails or is interrupted, it can be resumed.

About the American Clean Skies Foundation

Established in 2007, ACSF is a non-profit working to expand America’s clean energy options. Media and technology have always been central to ACSF’s mission. The foundation underwrote the weekly TV show energyNOW! from 2010-2011, which was distributed to more than 65 million cable homes by Bloomberg TV. This year, the foundation supported Energy at the Movies in conjunction with PBS’ Austin station and premiered Energy 101 animated videos; it has also co-sponsored the Intelligence Squared debates broadcast on NPR and various PBS affiliates.
