TWong found a utility rate at the page "OpenEI:Users".  Since this is incorrect, and this page did not exist before, I moved this page here: http://en.openei.org/wiki/Data:56b1fb6e-c816-4311-8738-93b39d58f400

We aren't sure how this happened, but it is now corrected.

There are updates coming through the pipe for the utility rate form.  When these updates are deployed to production, then will allow ISU and anyone entering utility rates the ability to define and access richer data.

This is a bad utility name. I think it should be changed from:

"Tri-County Electric Coop, Inc (Texas) (Texas) (2)"

    to

    "Tri-County Electric Coop, Inc (Texas)"

Of the 25K+ utility rates currently on OpenEI, there were several that had wiki comments.  Our goal is to bring discussions around content and technologies into the community section, thus we have shut down discussions on the wiki (see more here). For reference, here are the five comments added to utility rate discussion pages.  If you think it'd be useful to have an easy way to comment and show comments on a utility rate page, please let me know on this discussion.

Are you looking for the discussion tab on OpenEI pages?  We have disabled this indefinitely to help simplify OpenEI.  While the discussion pages function similarly to other wikis (like Wikipedia), users were not using the discussion pages enough to justify a link on each page.  Also, it was challenging to see what pages actually had discussion activity on them - it turned out 37 of 56K non-user pages had discussions on it.

OpenEI users can upload images to the wiki by typing a new file name http://en.openei.org/wiki/File:My_new_file.jpg

However, due to a caching timing issue, right after upload, the 120px-wide thumbnail has not yet been created by the time the fetier cache goes after it.  Thus, the thumbnail appears broken.

    Is anyone up for debugging?

For users uploading images, this can be fixed by forcing a reload of the page:

Welcome to all the entrepreneurs and professionals who are participating in the NYC Data Jam!  Please feel free to use this Data Jam Community area to share ideas and create sub groups of your own.  You may upload documents to share, create Q&As or polling questions, and discuss topics that can later be turned into game-changing ideas, datasets, and tools!

We have a beta version of two user manuals ready and we were wondering if it might be appropriate to host them on the NREL OpenEI site.  The first user manual is for the novice user of the database.  It explains terminology related to electricity rates and rate structures.  This is focused on a broad audience.  We thought it might go here: http://en.openei.org/services/ but if you have a better place, just let me know.

Explore the geospatial datasets in OpenEI's datasets by using the keyword GIS to filter search results.  Over 220 results contain the GIS keyword and include US and global energy data.  Search solar, wind, biomass and wave energy resources.

Do you have GIS data you would like to share?  Please add it to OpenEI's growing datasets and let the community know what you've shared.
